Admissions

Our service accepts referrals for young people requiring, a nurturing, caring, supportive intervention up to the age of  eighteen; working closely with local authorities and courts, youth offending teams and health authorities we strive to support our young people to achieve their potential. Our small 1, 2 or 3 bedded children’s homes regularly accept planned and emergency placements, and are inspected and registered with Ofsted; currently standing with all services at a Good rating with Outstanding elements. We pride ourselves in how we carefully consider all referral enquiries, to ensure we can meet the needs of the young person and take due care regarding the matching process to safeguard all young people currently placed with us. Based on the information we receive on referral we select the most appropriate setting for the young person.

The main criteria for young people joining us at Active Ark for is for those who are unable to remain at home with their families and:

  • Are in need of a small placement
  • Are part of a sibling group who want to stay together
  • Have experienced previous placement breakdown either from foster care or other residential establishments.
  • Are not able to live within their home environment or community and would benefit from family work programme.
  • Require individualised care programmes.
  • Require consistent boundaries and strategies
  • Would benefit from planned programmes aimed to achieve success to build self esteem and confidence and to encourage social and vocational skills.
  • Require support and care to be able to work through difficulties in their lives.
  • Young people who are leaving secure accommodation or would be advantaged by a reprieve from entering the secure system.
  • Young people who need intensive training and support to learn to live independent lifestyles.

On receipt of a referral we will consider all information and undertake a thorough matching process. On acceptance of referral we will then agree on an initial placement plan and risk assessment, which are an overview of how we will: care, safeguard and work with the young person in order to achieve the most positive outcomes.
